Northern Gulf Petroleum (NGP)
Northern Gulf Petroleum (NGP) is Thailand’s first and only privately-owned oil and gas exploration and production company. Established in 2004, NGP has built a strong foundation as a strategic investor and operator, specializing in the acquisition, development, operation, and management of high-potential upstream energy assets across Southeast Asia.
NGP was founded in 2004, breaking ground as Thailand’s first privately-owned oil and gas company. In 2007, we were awarded three offshore exploration blocks—G1, G3, and G6—spanning a total of 36,000 square kilometers, making us the largest acreage holder in the country at that time.
Since then, we have maintained a disciplined financial strategy: we are 100% equity-financed and operate with zero debt, giving us the agility and resilience to pursue high-impact opportunities. In 2009, we achieved two significant commercial discoveries—Manora and Rossukon—from our very first exploration drilling campaign.
Northern Gulf Petroleum is founded, becoming Thailand’s first and only privately-owned oil and gas exploration and production company.
NGP is awarded three offshore exploration blocks (G1, G3, G6) by Thailand’s Ministry of Energy — totaling 36,000 sq.km and making NGP the largest acreage holder in the country at that time.
NGP makes two significant commercial discoveries — the Manora and Rossukon oil fields — during its first exploration drilling campaign.
The Manora Oil Field achieves first oil in November, reaching a peak of 16,500 barrels per day and becoming the most prolific oil field in Thailand at the time.
Four successful appraisal wells confirm the commercial viability of the Rossukon Oil Field.
NGP completes a full divestment of the Manora asset to Mubadala — a milestone that demonstrates the company’s ability to create and realize long-term asset value.
NGP acquires full working interest and operational control of the Rossukon Oil Field, transitioning to operator status.
Just six months after assuming operatorship, NGP achieves first oil on November 13, 2023 — setting a new global benchmark for offshore oil field development speed.
NGP completed its second drilling campaign at Rossukon, adding up to 11 infill wells to increase production capacity to 13,000–15,000 barrels per day.
Manora began production in November 2014, reaching a peak output of 16,500 barrels of oil per day. It became the most prolific oil field in Thailand during its time under our management. In 2018, NGP divested the asset entirely to Mubadala, marking a successful and strategic exit that showcased our ability to create and realize value
